About Me
My name is Cara. I grew up camping each summer in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where I developed an early fascination for wildflowers. As an adult I continued to learn about and fall in love with California’s native plants. Now I live in the mountains on the Central Coast where I am daily inspired by the natural landscape around me. One of my favorite things to do is to photograph the wild plants I find on my hikes and daily walks.
My designs are based on California's habitats and plant communities such as chaparral, coastal sage scrub, oak woodland, redwood forest, etc. Plants that naturally grow together have special ways of supporting each other and keeping each other healthy. It is also important to plant according to your local habitat, as these plants will thrive in your soil and climate.
Contact me for a free consultation if you live in the Central Coast and are interested in an individualized garden design. Each plan includes a Plant Map, and a document with photos and detailed profiles for each plant.
